OSU football: Newcomers making an impact for Cowboys

Several new faces are contributing, whether it be transfers Kip Smith and Brandon Garrett, redshirt freshman like Jhajuan Seales and Emmanuel Oghah or true freshmen ditching the redshirt season like Marcell Ateman and Ben Grogan.

Ofa Hautau, defensive tackle: Has gotten in the defensive tackle rotation against Mississippi State and UTSA, but is still looking for his first tackle.

Tyler Patmon, cornerback: Has one tackle so far, but providing depth at a position that needed it.

Brandon Garrett, offensive lineman: Responsible for one of the biggest plays of the early season, tackling Mississippi State's Taveze Calhoun on a long return following a blocked field goal as the first half clock expired.

Sam Wren, defensive end: Already a rotation player on the edge, credited with 0.5 tackles.

Redshirt freshmen

Jhajuan Seales, wide receiver: Showed Saturday why teammates and coaches have raved about him, hauling in a team-high seven catches for 87 yards and his first-career touchdown.

Emmanuel Ogbah, defensive end: Tallied his first-career sack against Mississippi State, and has three total tackles and a quarterback hurry so far.

Zac Veatch, offensive lineman: Made debut against Mississippi State, but did not play against UTSA.

Seth Jacobs, linebacker: Saw action down the stretch against UTSA, recording 1.5 tackles.

Victor Irokansi, defensive end: Made debut against UTSA, but did not record any stats.

Paul Lewis, offensive lineman: Made debut against UTSA.

Dominic Ramacher, linebacker: Made debut against UTSA, but did not record any stats.

Eric Davis, defensive tackle: Made debut against UTSA, but did not record any stats.
