Cowboys fans grade high, tooGeorgia’s loss to OSU didn’t completely spoil the trip for those Bulldog followers who made the long trip to Stillwater. Cowboys fans had much to do with that. Michael Fitzpatrick, the opinions editor of The Red and Black, an independent student newspaper serving the University of Georgia, wrote about the hospitality of OSU fans during his time in Stillwater — before, during and after the game. Fitzpatrick opened his column with, "Perhaps Georgia fans can learn a thing or two about ‘Southern Hospitality’ from the fine people of Stillwater, Okla.” More from the piece: "I had never been to Oklahoma, never planned to visit Oklahoma and honestly did not care. And now, I’m not sure I want to leave. "From the moment I arrived, the graciousness of the entire city has been something to behold.” The full column can be found at www.redandblack.com.
SNAKES ON A BRAINOSU receiver Dez Bryant was flagged twice for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against Georgia, though one was offsetting. Offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer said Georgia was baiting Bryant, and he might as well get used to it. "He’s going to face that the rest of the season,” Brewer said. "People are going to try to put snakes in his head. "As he matures, he’ll learn they’re trying to get him in a different game.”
VIDEO GAMESOSU defensive coordinator Bill Young is old-school, but that doesn’t mean he can’t rely on new technology. Young said he encourages his defenders who aren’t in the game to watch replays on the Boone Pickens Stadium video board. "They can look up there, see what blocking scheme was used, ... did a guard pull or the center block this way or that way,” Young said. "Anything that might help us.”
HEADHUNTER LEGISLATIONThe OSU-Georgia game was sprinkled with several penalties for illegal shots to the head by defensive backs. The NCAA this season is emphasizing the prohibition of head-to-head contact. And Young says that’s fine with him. "It’s a great rule,” Young said. "We need to protect our players. Whatever rules they dish out, we gotta abide by them.”
