“And me neither. There is not really anything I can say about it. So it's better off just to let them go until the season is over and then let them have an opportunity to communicate with everybody.”
GUNDY REMEMBERS 1988 TEAM
Saturday's game against Kansas will also serve as a 25th anniversary celebration of the 1988 team, a season best remembered for Barry Sanders' historic run to the Heisman Trophy.
Of course, the quarterback of that team was Gundy. Will he be a part of the festivities? Or will he be too occupied with preparing for the Jayhawks?
“I'm not sure,” Gundy said. “I would guess I'm involved. I haven't seen any itineraries of what is going on. I know it will be a really neat time for those players.
“That team was really good. If you look back, if we would have had all the BCS shows and things going on (that there are now), this team would have been in the same category as the other team was a couple of years ago here (the 2011 Big 12 title team), based on the national exposure we would have gotten from television compared to what you get nowadays.”
