Pursuing Georgia peachesRecruiting is yet another reason the season opener with Georgia on Sept. 5 at Boone Pickens Stadium looms large. Five current OSU players are from the Peach State, including senior cornerback Maurice Gray, running back Beau Johnson, redshirt freshman defensive end Nigel Nicolas, true freshman fullback David Paulsen and true freshman linebacker LeRon Furr. The Cowboys have made solid inroads into Georgia, and a win could really help their cause when going head-to-head with the Bulldogs for a recruit. OSU currently is pursuing several Georgia prospects, including defensive tackle Jerome Davis and offensive lineman Du’Von Millsap of Buford, athlete Keith Mumphery of Vienna, and athlete Julian Horton of Norcross.
Quiet leaderKendall Hunter doesn’t say much off the field, but his play speaks volumes on it. The junior running back was the Big 12’s leading rusher in 2008. And he wants more. "He’s a unique kid,” running backs coach Robert Gillespie said. "(With) the way he approaches the game and his work ethic. He’s a great leader in the meeting room and on the field. From day one, he’s given me the attitude he wants me to coach him harder than everyone else.”
