Cornerback Andrew McGee leads Big 12 with four interceptions

Oklahoma State cornerback Andrew McGee tops the Big 12 rankings in interceptions with four. After wondering if he would ever return to the football field following a broken neck against Oklahoma in 2009, McGee has been a cornerstone in the secondary.

"It feels good," McGee said of being tied with Texas Tech's Jarvis Phillips in interceptions. "It's one of those dreams, especially not knowing if I was going to play originally. It's been a big blessing."

McGee's interception against Kansas State was particularly impressive as the senior dove and caught a tipped pass despite playing the game with a cast on his left hand.

"I had envisioned it in my head, and that's one thing Coach (Mike) Gundy always tells us," McGee said of his fourth-quarter interception. "Coach (Gunter) Brewer had told me I was going to catch an interception right before that drive. It was awesome thing to see that come to pass."

LIFE LESSONS

Mike Gundy believes the college experience is a big part of growing up. Making good decisions and learning to fend for yourself are key parts of the maturation process.

That's why the Cowboys' coach doesn't see the need to set a daily curfew for his team or prohibit them from leaving Payne County during a game week.
