Some notable absences at first Holiday Bowl practiceA few regular contributors missed Oklahoma State’s first Holiday Bowl practice in San Diego Thursday evening, and some of them won’t be coming at all.
Receiver Damian Davis had a flight delay that caused him to miss the workout, and reserve defensive lineman Ahmad Jones also was late in arriving. Backup offensive lineman Trent Perkins and cornerbacks Terrance Anderson and Markelle Martin will not be joining the team in San Diego. "They are just guys who didn’t make the trip,” head coach Mike Gundy said. "I don’t ever get into reasons why.”
Wet workout for PokesOSU’s first practice in San Diego was wetter than expected in typically sunny Southern California. "We had a driving rain storm — it felt like ‘Forrest Gump’ with the rain coming parallel to the ground,” Gundy joked. "But it didn’t bother the guys. They were in a great frame of mind, and they had a good practice. "It was a full two-hour, padded practice.” Motivation for their 10th win kept the Cowboys focused in the pouring rain at the University of San Diego’s Torero Stadium. "It was pretty brutal conditions for a while there,” quarterback Zac Robinson said.
