WR Davis dismissed; three others leave team
Four Oklahoma State football players will not remain with the team, sources close to the program told The Oklahoman Wednesday.

Receivers Damian Davis and Artrell Woods, backup offensive lineman Trent Perkins and backup defensive lineman Jeremy Gray will not be back with the team next season for various reasons.

Davis, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound sophomore who was the third-leading receiver last season, has been dismissed for violating unspecified team rules. Davis’ transgressions were not related to any legal trouble, a source said.

Woods, whose career had been slowed by a weight-lifting accident that left him with a cracked vertebrae, is expected to transfer and will not participate in spring practice.

Perkins is also expected to transfer, and Gray has decided not to pursue a football career.

Cowboys add second qb commit
Within a week of finishing off the 2009 signing class, OSU has now received two verbal commitments from quarterbacks for next year’s class.

Sand Springs’ Johnny Deaton committed to OSU on Sunday, and he was joined Wednesday by Nathan Sorenson of Texarkana, Texas, according to multiple Internet reports.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-hander threw for more than 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns last season at Texas High School.
