OSU football recruiting: Juco offensive lineman Brandon Garrett already on campus, competing for starting job

Oklahoma State offensive line coach Joe Wickline knows how to spot the players who will fit best into his system, and he clearly saw something he liked in Brandon Garrett.

The Trinity Valley Community College offensive tackle signed in December and enrolled at OSU in January, meaning he'll take part in spring practice with his mind set on trying to win a starting job.

“We expect Brandon to come in and challenge for a starting spot,” Wickline said of the 6-foot-6 Garrett. “He'll be at about 295 pounds for the spring. He's got good fundamentals and is very intelligent. He is an athletic player with good bend.”

Originally from Deer Park, Texas, Garrett only played one season of varsity football in high school. His build is ideally suited for a tackle position, and he joins a group of four other offensive linemen, all of whom are 6-foot-4 or taller.

Garrett turned down offers from Louisiana and North Texas. He will be classified as a junior, but has not used a redshirt year, meaning he has three years to use his final two seasons of eligibility.
