Like a bolt out of the blue, Naim Mustafaa flipped his commitment from Georgia to Oklahoma State, ending any potential drama by enrolling for the spring semester at OSU all in the same move.

It was a blow to the Bulldogs and a boost for the Cowboys, who again benefited from defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer's ties and pull in his home state.

Mustafaa had been committed to Georgia since the summer, becoming the Bulldogs' first outside linebacker recruit for their 3-4 defense. OSU, however, eventually became a better fit – literally.

“It mainly came down to whether I wanted to be an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense at Georgia, or play a true defensive end at Oklahoma State,” he told GoPokes.com. “And I'm more comfortable as a defensive end.”

A four-star prospect by Scout.com, Mustafaa is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect known for a great initial step and quick hands, as well as a high motor.

Already on campus, he's working on gaining strength and getting an edge with the opportunity to go through spring drills with the Cowboys. OSU loses three seniors at defensive end, putting competition at a premium at the position.

Mustafaa's father, Najee Mustafaa, was a teammate of Spencer's at Georgia Tech. And while the son was committed to the Bulldogs, Spencer kept tugging.

“It played a good part,” Mustafaa told the Scout site. “Coach Spencer made a lot of trips down here in the spring and this fall.”
