Thomas returns for Bedlam
Thurman Thomas, Oklahoma State’s all-time leading rusher, returned to Stillwater on Saturday with plenty of fanfare — at least once he got on the field.
Thomas, who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame next month, was honored during the game Saturday night.
Before the game he joined the current OSU team in "The Walk” into the stadium, which had less excitement for Thomas, who was OSU’s running back from 1984-87.
"People right next to me were like, ‘Hey, there’s Zac Robinson!’” Thomas joked. "Then some old guy with a cane was like, ‘Hey Thurman, how you doing?”
Thomas now works in radio and television in Buffalo, where he played professional football. He also owns three athletic training facilities where he works with children and adults.
Saturday was his first sight of the expanded version of Boone Pickens Stadium, but he says he follows the Cowboys as much as possible.
Of course he keeps up with all of college football these days as a voter in the Harris poll, which is used in the BCS standings.
"I have to keep up with college football, so I’ve been able to keep up with OSU a lot more this year,” he said.
