OSU football: Time to start thinking bowls
At 3-0, the Cowboys could end up just about anywhere

STILLWATER — Just three games into the season, the realm of postseason possibilities for Oklahoma State covers the entire spectrum.

The Cotton Bowl? Maybe. No bowl at all? Possibly. The BCS championship game? Why not?


The possibilities remain virtually limitless right now for the Cowboys, who are 17-point favorites against Troy on Saturday and could be favored by even more next week against Texas A&M. Those two wins would have the Pokes at 5-0 and climbing the top 25 rankings heading into a showdown at Missouri on Oct. 11.

Then they find out if those Big 12 Championship bracelets on their wrists still represent an attainable team goal.

Should they fall short of that mark at season's end, there are still plenty of potential results that would mean a successful season for the Cowboys.

For instance, a New Year's Day bowl game, even though that doesn't carry the same distinction it once did.

"It's become so distorted because there are so many bowls,” former OSU coach Pat Jones said. "Now, it's about the BCS bowls. But those others — the Gator or the Cotton or the Holiday — those are still good bowls.
