With the opening of the west end zone, Boone Pickens Stadium will certainly look different this fall. But fans attending Oklahoma State football games can expect game day changes inside and outside the stadium.
For one thing, the OSU Hall of Fame Block Party will actually be moved to Hall of Fame street, marketing coordinator Mary Means said. For the last two years, with the construction on the street, the pregame carnival-like event was held outside the south side of the stadium. This year the carnival-type food, face painting, kids' games, athlete autograph booth and vendors will be moved across the stadium to the recently opened strip of Hall of Fame.
Inside the stadium, new concessions stands and bathrooms will be open to service the recently completed 15,000-plus seats in the west end zone.
One of the more noticeable changes will be the movement of the band to the west end zone, putting the band closer to the students and cheerleaders.
Another change will be more space for the "paddle people,” the group of students who beat the wall with wooden paddles. Means said the number of paddle people had been limited to 15 or 20 in recent years but there should be space for as many as 60 this year.
