Oklahoma State could have as few as one player selected this weekend in the NFL Draft or as many as three players selected. Listed below are OSU players who might be drafted, or at least have a shot at being invited to an NFL training camp as an undrafted free agent.
Dantrell SavagePosition: Running back Stats: 1,272 yards rushing, 9 TDs in 2007. Ht./Wt.: 5-8, 195 Combine/pro day stats: 4.40 in the 40. Projection: Could go as early as fourth round, as late as sixth round. Upside: His height is a concern for some teams, but he was first-team all-Big 12 and finished his career with 10 consecutive 100-yard games.
Adarius BowmanPosition: Wide receiver Stats: 67 catches, 1,006 yards, 8 TDs in 2007. Ht./Wt.: 6-4, 220 Combine/pro day stats: 4.76 in 40; 34-inch vertical. Projection: Sixth or seventh round. Upside: Back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons are proof he can produce, but his stock has dropped because of a slow 40 time and marijuana arrest.
Julius CrosslinPosition: Fullback. Stats: 432 career rushing yards, 23 TDs. Ht./Wt.: 6-0, 230 Combine/pro day stats: 4.75 in 40; 35-inch vertical. Projection: Priority free agent but could go in seventh round. Upside: NFL teams love players who with size and speed. A solid blocker and special teams player, he will earn a shot in some team's camp.
Rod JohnsonPosition: Linebacker Stats: 181 career tackles. Ht./Wt.: 6-3, 255 Combine/pro day stats: 5.15 in 40; 28-inch vertical. Projection: Could sneak into seventh round but most likely will be a free agent. Upside: Switching from linebacker to defensive end, back to linebacker, Johnson should get a shot in some team's camp, but his lack of speed makes him a long shot to make a roster.
Marque FountainPosition: Defensive end Stats: 132 career tackles, 11.5 sacks. Ht./Wt.: 6-2, 260 Combine/pro day stats: 5.03 in 40; 20 reps (225 pounds). Projection: Free agent Upside: Fountain played well in the Insight Bowl and was productive enough throughout his career he'll get a shot in someone's camp.
Donovan WoodsPosition: Linebacker Stats: 175 career tackles, 5 interceptions Ht./Wt.: 6-2, 230 Combine/pro day stats: 4.70 in 40; 36-inch vertical. Projection: Free agent Upside: The ideal team player, Woods — who is a Millwood graduate — moved from quarterback to safety to linebacker and should earn a spot in some team's camp.
Zach CarterPosition: Fullback Stats: No carries, one reception Ht./Wt.: 6-1, 225 Combine/pro day stats: 4.61 in 40; 38-inch vertical. Projection: Free agent Upside: He started only one game his entire career, but his Pro Day stats were so impressive he could land a free agent offer.
David KoenigPosition: Offensive guard Stats: 40 career starts Ht./Wt.:6-5, 280 Combine/pro day stats: 30 reps (225 pounds) Projection: Uncertain Upside: One of those rare offensive linemen who had trouble keeping his weight up. His career could be over unless he decides to bulk up for a shot at a training camp.
Jeremy NethonPosition: Linebacker Stats: 120 career tackles. Ht./Wt.: 5-11, 225 Combine/pro day stats: 4.92 in 40; 28-inch vertical Projection: Uncertain Upside: The Beggs native hopes to get into a training camp this summer, but that might be a long shot.
Martel Van ZantPosition: Cornerback Stats: 127 tackles Ht./Wt.: 6-1, 230 Combine/pro day stats: DNP Projection: Injured Upside: A fan favorite who was born deaf, Van Zant will have a movie made based on his life. But he recently underwent ankle surgery to all but eliminate any shot at a free agent contract this summer.
Tommy DevereauxPosition: Wide receiver Stats: 27 career receptions, 2 TDs. Ht./Wt.: 6-0, 185 Combine/pro day stats: 4.43 in 40; 30-inch vertical Projection: Uncertain Upside: Has good speed but never blossomed. Uncertain whether his speed is enough to land a free agent offer. By Mike Baldwin
