OSU notebook: Cowboy basketball is looking up

After losing senior Philip Jurick, OSU will lean on forwards Michael Cobbins and Kamari Murphy as experienced players inside and hope that Marek Soucek and incoming Gary Gaskins develop to provide help.

Down the road, however, Cowboys coaches are working in recruiting to add size.

Among the top prospects: 7-footer Myles Turner of Euless Trinity (Texas), 6-8 Victor Craig of New Orleans, a pair of 5-star prospects.

COWBOYS WAITING ON HAUTAU

Junior college defensive tackle Ofa Hautau, signed in the February recruiting class, won't join workouts until August.

Hautau's academic work carried past the spring and his graduation from Snow College won't be official until July 9, which would put him too late to enroll in summer school at OSU. To participate in the offseason program, a player must be enrolled in summer school.

Still, Hautau is expected to be ready and in camp when the Cowboys open preseason practices.
