Gundy said he will let Clint Chelf and J.W. Walsh practice this week and see how it goes.

GUNDY WON'T REVEAL KIP SMITH'S INJURY STATUS

Gundy, noting that he does not divulge injury information, would not give an update on the status of punter/kickoff specialist Kip Smith, who left the TCU game with an apparent leg injury.

Gundy did, however, say Smith's injury is not believed to be season-ending.

Without Smith, Michael Reichenstein punted twice, averaging 32 yards per boot. Ben Grogan took over kickoff duties, with his only kick going out of bounds.

GILBERT ENJOYS WATCHING RETURN GAME SUCCESS

Justin Gilbert has the reputation of being one of the best special teams weapons in the Big 12, as he's already tied the conference record with five career kick returns for touchdowns.

Against TCU, though, it was other Cowboys making big plays in that area. Josh Stewart returned a punt 95 yards for a touchdown to set a school record, while Brandon Sheperd returned a kickoff 50 yards to help set up OSU's game-clinching drive.

“I like it,” Gilbert said. “I like those guys making plays. Seeing those guys step up and make plays, me as a teammate, I have no choice but to cheer them on. As long as we're winning games, I'm happy with it.”
