Report: OSU's Zac Robinson suffered separated shoulder

According to the Oklahoma State radio broadcast, quarterback Zac Robinson sustained a separated shoulder Tuesday night.

But OSU coach Mike Gundy refused to let injuries become an excuse for his team.

“It affected his accuracy and throwing in the second half,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said. “But we had enough variety in our offense to move the ball effectively, even though he had an issue with his shoulder. It came down to us not being able to run the ball, more than anything.”

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said former OSU defensive coordinator Tim Beckman, who took the head coaching job at Toledo early this month, would attend the Holiday Bowl but was not involved at all in the game preparation or coaching.

It appears that Beckman couldn't stay away. Before the game started ESPN panned the OSU coaches in the press box, where Beckman sat wearing a headset and an OSU jacket that matched the rest of the coaches. After the game he headed down the in the elevator with the other defensive coaches, looking extremely upset with the loss.

MIDWESTERN OFFICIATING CREW

Contrary to what was said on the telecast, the Holiday Bowl officiating crew was comprised of all Big Ten officials.

DUCKS HONOR DECEASED PLAYER

At every home game this season, an Oregon player wore jersey No. 29 in honor of Todd Doxey, a redshirt freshman from San Diego who drowned in July after diving off a bridge into a river. On Tuesday night, cornerback and kick returner Talmadge Jackson wore Doxey's number. Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said Doxey's closest friends were selected to wear his jersey throughout the season and a notebook was left in Doxey's locker all year for players to write messages. The notebook was presented to Doxey's family this week.

OSU'S BOWLLING CONTRIBUTES BIG PLAY

On Oklahoma State's third offensive possession, receiver Bo Bowling got absurdly open down field and waved his arms for the ball. Quarterback Zac Robinson didn't see him, and completed a shorter pass to Dez Bryant. On the very next play Robinson made up for it, hitting Bowling with a 28 yard pass to the Oregon 6 yardline. OSU scored two plays later on a three yard run by Kendall Hunter.

INSPIRING ANTHEM

Fans at the Holiday Bowl were treated to one of the best National Anthem performances of the year.
