You know it's your day when...
OSU didn't punt until the third quarter, and when Matt Fodge came out his punt was partially blocked. Even with the interruption, the punt went 45 yards to the 11-yard line.

OSU punted only one other time.

Jenks grad starts for 'Huskers: Nebraska sophomore and Jenks graduate Phillip Dillard earned his first start at middle linebacker in last week's loss to Missouri. Dillard led the 'Huskers onto the field on Saturday, and started again in the middle.

Dillard replaced fifth-year senior Corey McKeon in the starting lineup. Dillard and McKeon rotated Saturday.

•Linebacker alignment: Chris Collins did not play Saturday. Collins, who has been out with turf toe, did not make the trip for the second week in a row. Defensive lineman Marque Fountain, who injured his hamstring last week but played the whole game at Texas A&M, also did not play. Martel Van Zant (turf toe) played but was limited.

•Ready Rod: OSU defensive lineman Rodrick Johnson moved to linebacker last week because of Collins' injury. In the middle of this week, after learning that Fountain wouldn't play, the Cowboys moved Johnson back to the line.

Johnson had a solid game back at his old spot, defensive coordinator Tim Beckman said, including a diving interception deflected off Jeremy Nethon's hands.

"That just credits a senior that's very unselfish, to move from linebacker, because that's all he'd been practicing the last two weeks, back down to defensive end,” Beckman said. "He probably got 40 snaps today and got an interception and did a great job for us.”

Grand finale: In his postgame press conference Gundy said he was especially proud of two things: Zac Robinson's block on a long Dantrell Savage run and the last two plays of the game.

"I was very excited about them running the power and Martel (Van Zant) coming up and really putting it on their back and then the last play, where they scored their touchdown, and (safety Andre) Sexton came over and put a good hit on them,” Gundy said.
