STILLWATER — Residence halls and Greek houses were on lockdown Monday night after someone was shot during a burglary just south of the Oklahoma State University campus, officials said.

One person was shot in the leg near W 4th Avenue and S Lincoln Street about 9 p.m., OSU spokesman Gary Shutt said.

Dwellings on campus received phone calls informing them of the shooting and an alert was sent out to all students, he said.

Stillwater and OSU officers were looking for the shooter late Monday, who was described as a heavyset black man standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall, Shutt said.

The gunman was not reported to have been on campus, but students were alerted as a precautionary measure, he said.
