OSU report card: Hard to give good marks in Cowboys worst performance

by Berry Tramel Published: November 18, 2011

Joseph Randle lost two fumbles for the second straight game. Jeremy Smith dropped two short passes from Weeden on a fourth-quarter drive that could have put away the game. And it's not like their production was high – they combined for 60 yards on 18 carries and four catches for 25 yards.

Worst look all season for the Cowboys. Black helmet, white jersey, orange pants. Looked like Oregon State, which is a perennial bottom-10 team in uniforms.

Two major penalties on punt returns, failure to cover an onside kick, allowing a long kickoff return to give ISU life after going down 24-7, Quinn Sharp's missed field goal in the final two minutes of regulation. The only bright spot was Sharp's two punts inside the Cyclone 12-yard line.

OSU did not often corral mobile ISU quarterback Jared Barnett, who scrambled for 84 yards on 14 carries. The Cowboys' blitzes routinely left running lanes for Barnett.
