It's not surprising that Joseph Randle has the versatility and athletic ability to excel at multiple positions in the Big 12.
The Wichita (Kan.) Southeast running back and Oklahoma State signee has excellent bloodlines.
Randle's older brothers John and Larry both played college football — John at Kansas then at Southern Illinois and Larry at Emporia State — with John even seeing time on both sides of the ball as a freshman for the Jayhawks as a running back and defensive back.
But Joseph has the same type of ability, making him ideal for Dana Holgorsen's new offense.
"His versatility will be able to set himself apart," Rivals.com national analyst Jeremy Crabtree said. "He's been very productive. He has good size, a great frame and he's comes from a great family."
Joseph Randle is expected to begin his Cowboys career as a running back and he shows the vision, quick feet and balance which may make him a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
But he also has shown playmaking ability as a defensive back, using those same traits to be a difference maker in the backfield.
"There's no question he has potential and ability," Crabtree said. "It's just finding the right place for him. Whether it's on offense or defense, we'll find out."
