STILLWATER — For almost 40 minutes, Kansas got its way under the basket against Oklahoma State.

But as KU guard CeCe Harper drove the lane with time expiring and her team down by two, OSU finally defended the interior.

Three Cowgirls collapsed and contested the shot, causing Harper to miss off the front of the rim.

Despite spotty play, No. 12-ranked OSU escaped with a 76-74 women's basketball win against KU on Wednesday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

“I was saying, ‘Please don't go in, please don't go in,' ” OSU forward Brittney Martin said. “I think I jumped the highest I ever have for that last rebound. I was just trying to get it out of there.”

Coach Jim Littell's Cowgirls (19-3, 8-3 Big 12) held a slight lead throughout the final 13 minutes, but they were never able to put the Jayhawks away.

Even after Tiffany Bias dropped in a layup and grabbed a steal on the other end that resulted in the Cowgirls going up five with 51 seconds left, OSU let the Jayhawks (11-12, 4-7) hang around.

“We're making some mistakes you can't have,” Littell said. “We gave up an and-1 late in the game. We're missing some free throws at the end of the game.
