STILLWATER — Football fans in the Big 12 region, along with recruits, will pull the Sports Illustrated College Football Preview from their mailboxes or off newsstands today and in the days to come.
They’ll find Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson behind center Andrew Lewis, shoving a finger in their face. The message is all in the headline: Party Crashers. The Cowboys Have The Firepower To Shake Up The BCS. "Everybody in the Midwest is going to be seeing who’s representing the Big 12,” Lewis said. "It’s us this year. And it’s a real big privilege.” The implications are major. For one, it’s OSU’s first time on the SI cover for football — ever. It’s also another step in the Cowboys’ graduation to join the big boys. And not to be overlooked, when Texas prep stars get their hands on the magazine deep in the heart of OSU’s most fertile recruiting ground, it won’t be Colt McCoy staring out at them. It’ll be Robinson and Lewis. Same here in Oklahoma, where the Heisman Trophy holder resides in Norman. "I can’t imagine that it’s ever been bigger in football for us,” said Cowboys coach Mike Gundy. OSU is one of four teams for four regions of the country, joining Oregon, Mississippi and Penn State.
