OU 69, Georgia Tech 50: Guards lead way for Sooners

About the only misstep was a technical foul early in the second half. Robinson was whistled when she hollered after a backcourt steal and break-away lay-up

"Coming off the game on Sunday definitely brought some extra hype,” said Robinson, who scored 15 points in the Sooners’ NCAA Tournament opener against Prairie View A&M. "Playing well there helped motivate me to play another great game.”

Hand’s motivation was a bit different. After the shooting guard struggled against Prairie View, Georgia Tech left her open early.

She took advantage.

"Whitney,” forward Ashley Paris said, "she had the first 12 points of the game it seemed like.”

Actually, it was the first eight.

Hand finished the game making 5 of 9 shots from the floor, including 3 of 6 from behind the arc.

"They were unbelievable,” Ashley Paris said of Hand and Robinson. "The two youngest people on our team. Two of the youngest people in the gym.

"It’s just amazing.”
