SEPT. 4

OU 31, Utah State 24, at Norman:

Carlson: The Sooners win but not much else. With all kinds of struggles against Utah State, concerns abound about a Week 2 matchup against Florida State.

OSU 65, Washington State 17, at Stillwater:

Tramel: The Holgorsen offense debuts with great results. We know Washington State stinks, but still, this was impressive.

SEPT. 11

OSU 41, Troy 38, at Stillwater:

Carlson: A fumble in the victory formation? Disaster was averted when the Cowboy defense forced a fumble on the very next play. Given another chance at the victory formation, Brandon Weeden took the snap in the shotgun.

OU 47, Florida State 17, at Norman

Tramel: The Seminoles scored on the first possession, then nothing. The Sooner defense dominated. Florida State scored on the last play of the game to make it look a little less browbeating.

SEPT. 18

OSU 65, Tulsa 28, at Stillwater:

Carlson: The Golden Hurricane refused to let Kendall Hunter beat them. So, Justin Blackmon did with three touchdowns on only six catches.

OU 27, Air Force 24, at Norman

Tramel: Be still my heart. The triple option scares the Sooners and brings up fond memories from yesteryear.

SEPT. 25

OU 31, Cincinnati 29, at Cincinnati

Tramel: At the time, this too-close-comfort win didn't seem half bad. Cincinnati looked like a solid opponent. Now we know better.

SEPT. 30

OSU 38, Texas A&M 35, at Stillwater:

Carlson: The Cowboys play on Thursday night, and insanity ensues. A Shaun Lewis interception set up a Dan Bailey field goal with only 2 seconds left. Crazy fun.

OCT. 2

OU 28, Texas 20, at Dallas

Tramel: The Sooners should have dominated but instead made things interesting in the fourth quarter. The Longhorns were a competitive team then, though not now.

OCT. 8

OSU 54, Louisiana-Lafayette 28, at Lafayette, La.

Tramel: Hard to believe, seven weeks later, that the Ragin' Cajuns actually led at halftime. Probably Brandon Weeden's (two interceptions) worst game of the year.
