OU baseball: Sooners hire new pitching coach

Jamie Pinzino, who was head coach at William & Mary, will join the OU staff.

NORMAN — Oklahoma baseball will hire William & Mary head coach Jamie Pinzino as its pitching coach.

The hire was first reported by Perfect Game.

Pinzino replaces Jack Giese, who left the program last month.

Giese was the pitching coach under Sunny Golloway, who left following last season to take the job at Auburn.

Pete Hughes, the head coach at Virginia Tech, replaced Golloway.

Pinzino coached the Tribe to a 39-24 record and an NCAA Regional appearance last season in his only year as William & Mary's head coach. He served as the pitching coach for the Tribe in 2012.

Pinzino, a Tufts graduate, has also served as head coach at Assumption and Bryant and as an assistant at Holy Cross, Tufts and Northeastern.
