Ty Darlington has just one collegiate start and played in just three games last year but Oklahoma’s junior center was named to the 2014 Rimington Trophy watch list Monday.
The Rimington Trophy is given annually to the top center in college football.
Darlington played in nine games as a freshman in 2012, starting in place of an injured Gabe Ikard against Baylor.
Last season, he played in just three games.
Darlington is expected to replace Ikard at center this season.
Florida State’s Bryan Stork won the award last season.
No Big 12 player has won the award since Nebraska’s Dominic Raiola won the inaugural trophy in 2000. Both West Virginia and TCU had players win the award before joining the conference, though.
