NORMAN — Oklahoma announced today that Southern University's Barry Honoré will transfer to Oklahoma, confirming a previous report in The Oklahoman. Honoré will sit out this season and have two seasons of eligibility as a walk-on.

"I wanted to be closer to home and closer to my family," said Honoré in a release. "I have a grandmother who's in a nursing home right down the street here in Norman. I also have an aunt and uncle who live in Norman, and another aunt and uncle who live in Noble."

Honoré was born in Oklahoma City and started 54 of 61 games in two seasons at Southern.

The 6-7, 270-pounder averaged 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds with the Jaguars and earned Southwestern Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors.
