OU coach Bob Stoops on OU's No. 4 preseason ranking: “It really doesn't much matter. It's probably a good place to be rather than everyone talking about you being No. 1 and it's better than five or six, but in the end you only stay there if you keep winning. We'll only stay there if we go do the work, and that's all we really think about is doing the work and preparation.”
Stoops on OU center Gabe Ikard: “Gabe is the best.”
Stoops on having two bye weeks in September: “I think everyone's aware that TCU was in one of those slots and was another tough nonconference game that we like to schedule but not everybody does. Running back Dom Whaley on what he did to get better: “Well, I participated in all offseason workouts. I did everything they told me to do and I went in in extra time and did rehab and whatnot and did some running with them. I gradually got better and better as the days went on. By summer I was out there doing everything with the rest of the team.”
Fullback Trey Millard on being in the best shape of his career: “I think overall, yes. I think so. Body fat percentage is low. I think just having this full summer to work out has helped me, because last summer I was coming off the shoulder injury still and just being kind of delicate with that situation and this summer I didn't have to do that really at all.”
