OU football: Drew Hill hired as director of player personnel

by Jason Kersey Published: July 15, 2014

NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced Tuesday that Drew Hill will take over as the Sooners’ director of player personnel.

Hill spent the past two seasons on the Colorado State staff in the same role. Before that, he worked for eight seasons as Fresno State’s football operations director.

He replaces Reed Case, the Sooners’ first-ever director of player personnel, who left the program earlier this year to become Texas’ on-campus recruiting coordinator.

As director of player personnel, Hill will direct all aspects of Oklahoma’s recruiting efforts along with Stoops and director of recruiting Cale Gundy, who also serves as the team’s running backs coach.

The day after Case left, Stoops was asked what kind of person he wanted to take over that position.

“A guy that is personable and can organize recruiting,” Stoops said. “Really, not a guy that’s looking to be on the field because he’s not allowed to be on the field. Most of a guy that administrates recruiting, someone that understands recruiting, can host people when they are here, can direct our coaches and organize and help Coach Gundy, who is our recruiting coordinator and organize where everyone is at and keep up with it all.”
