Allstate is raffling off five pairs of Sugar Bowl tickets to OU fans Saturday afternoon at Norman's Sooner Mall.
Fans can register between noon and 5 p.m., and a pair of tickets will be given away each hour beginning at 12:45 p.m. Fans must be present in order to win.
Legendary former OU coach Barry Switzer will be on hand from 1 to 5 p.m. to help Allstate award the tickets and chat with fans.
The event will take place at the mall's main entrance between Sears and Dillard's.
SUGAR BOWL COULD HOST 2016 TITLE GAME
The first College Football Playoff championship game will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in January 2015, but the 2016 and 2017 title-game sites are expected to be announced before the end of the month.
Glendale, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla., Tampa, Fla., and New Orleans submitted bids for the 2016 championship game, and six sites — San Francisco, Jacksonville, Minneapolis, San Antonio, South Florida and Tampa — are pursuing the 2017 event.
Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan said his group put forward a “very competitive bid” for the 2016 game, and he likes New Orleans' chances.
“We'll be expecting to hear something about that sometime next week,” Hoolahan said in a telephone interview with The Oklahoman.
“We think we're a desirable city to conduct these type of events. We've been involved in a number of national championships, probably 22 to be exact, over the years. Five most recently — four in the BCS, and one immediately preceding the BCS — so we think we have a pretty good track record from that standpoint.”
Oklahoma and Alabama will meet Jan. 2 in this season's Sugar Bowl. Over the next 12 years, the Sugar Bowl will become a Big 12 vs. SEC event, except in the four seasons it hosts College Football Playoff semifinals.
