Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said he hopes running back DeMarco Murray (bruised ribs) can practice this week.
“The way we practice, unless the injury is more severe than anticipated or what he showed post game, hopefully he'll be able to,†Wilson said. “You try to get guys the key looks you think they need. I don't think it will be a problem. We'll see as we get into it (Monday), Tuesday for sure.â€
LEWIS SOLID IN RETURN
Sidelined three weeks by a sprained knee, Ronnell Lewis played around 45 snaps and also impacted kickoff coverage.
“Ronnell really played well. He was explosive and had good awareness,†said defensive coordinator Brent Venables. “He held up really well. He's a good player. He's strong, explosive, fast, mean, nasty and violent. That's a good combination. We missed him.â€
Lewis will be part of the defensive end rotation. Defensive tackle Casey Walker is expected to return this week after missing six games with a sprained knee. Venables said Pryce Macon will continue to play almost exclusively at defensive tackle.
BOX, WORT TO ROTATE
Venables said he will continue to rotate Tom Wort and Austin Box at middle linebacker. In his first start this season, Box recorded seven tackles.
“He played really well,†Venables said. “It helps you play consistently when guys are doing their job. Not making small, subtle mistakes makes a big difference.â€
Linebacker Travis Lewis — “I hate the critics saying we don't play well on the road. At home, we're the best team in the nation by far. And then on the road, we're average.â€
