OKLAHOMANS COME UP BIG FOR TECH

With Texas Tech leading 31-14 midway through the third quarter, Sooners quarterback Landry Jones had Kenny Stills lined up for what would've been a long completion.

But Jones underthrew the ball slightly, giving Red Raiders cornerback Tre' Porter, a Carl Albert High School product, just enough room to go up over Stills and pull down the interception.

The play was reviewed but the initial call was upheld.

Porter is one of six Oklahomans playing for the Red Raiders. Three are from Lawton.

Midway through the fourth, another Oklahoman helped the Red Raiders put the Sooners away.

Millwood senior Tramain Swindall leapt near the back of the end zone to pull in a 14-yard touchdown pass that put Tech up 41-24.

FAKE PUNT GIVES SOONERS CHANCE

Just four plays after the Sooners cut the deficit to 13 late in the third quarter, Tommy Tuberville decided to fake a punt on fourth and 4 from the Texas Tech 41.

Jack Richards ran up the middle after taking the snap from the protector spot, coming up just short of the first-down mark.

Richards was stopped by Julian Wilson and Joseph Powell.

The Sooners scored on the ensuing possession, pulling to within a touchdown, 31-24, early in the fourth.

ERXLEBEN MAKES OWEN FIELD DEBUT

Ryan Erxleben did something Saturday night his father never did: punted on Owen Field. The Tech punter had six kicks for a 37.5-yard average.

Erxleben's father, Russell Erxleben, is one of the greatest kickers in college football history. As a University of Texas kicker and punter, Russell Erxleben dominated games.

In Texas' 13-6 victory over OU in 1977 at Dallas, the elder Erxleben kicked field goals of 64 and 58 yards, plus punted nine times for a 48.9-yard average, including a 69-yarder late in the game.

Ryan Erxleben, a sophomore from Lake Travis, Texas, punted against the Sooners in 2009 at Lubbock but redshirted last season.
