OU football notebook: Fullback Trey Millard says Sooners can still win Big 12

Millard: “We had one loss last year in the Big 12. We got a co-championship. It's still out there for us. We just have to go out and do our job the rest of the season.”

One of the biggest reasons Oklahoma pulled off the win over Notre Dame in September was the job its offensive line did in protecting Bell.

Since then, though, the Sooners have struggled in protection.

Oklahoma has given up seven sacks over the past two games after giving up just four all season before the TCU game.

“I had guys in my face, and I tried to make a play,” Bell said of the difference between Saturday's loss and the win at Notre Dame. “When you're throwing off your back foot because you have pressure in your face, the ball's gonna sail on you. I just have to step into it and take a shot.”

QUOTABLE

“I think in all competitive arenas, there is a very fine edge between what somebody's listening to and what their mindset is when you have to go compete. I'm not going to say we were (overconfident), but at the end of the day, they played a lot better what we did.”

Sooners coach Bob Stoops on whether or not his team was overconfident going into Saturday's game.
