Adding another layer of confirmation to the notion that OU-Texas Tech is the game of the year in college football: ESPN is sending its College GameDay crew to Owen Field.

Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard are headed to Norman for the first time this season. GameDay set up for the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl.

Fowler and Co. also saw Texas Tech knock off Texas in Lubbock.

The Sooners will be without two key pass rushers when they face Texas Tech, with ends Auston English and Alan Davis both out with knee sprains.

For depth, OU has moved linebacker J.R. Bryant to one backup spot, while little-used Pryce Macon will serve as the other behind starters Jeremy Beal and Frank Alexander.

The injuries come at a critical time, with the Sooners set to face the nation’s most prolific passing attack.

"It’s going to be the guys we have,” Sooners coach Bob Stoops said.
