FRANKS, DARYL WILLIAMS MISS PRACTICE

Sophomore receiver Trey Franks missed practice Tuesday, and could the next couple of days, because he had his wisdom teeth removed.

Franks was active in Saturday's opener, catching seven passes for 74 yards. That marked his career high in yardage, though he did have eight catches last season against Texas A&M.

Additionally, redshirt freshman tackle Daryl Williams tweaked an ankle in Saturday's game. Stoops said he'll rest this week. He said Monday that everyone should be healthy by the Sept. 17 Florida State game — which is now officially a 7 p.m. kickoff on ABC, ESPN announced Tuesday.

STOOPS PLANS TO ATTEND SELMON SERVICE IN FLORIDA

With the bye week, Stoops said he plans to represent OU at Lee Roy Selmon's memorial service Friday morning in Tampa, Fla.

Selmon will also have a service at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church on South Sooner Road in Oklahoma City.

“All of us at the university, and those associated with it, are just saddened by the death of Lee Roy,” Stoops said. “We want them to know our prayers continue to be with them.”

Selmon, 56, suffered a stroke Friday and died Sunday. He is considered by many to be the greatest OU player of all time.

SOONERS STILL NO. 1, BUT THERE’S NEW NO. 2

After a 33-point victory, Oklahoma remained a comfortable No. 1 in the major polls. There is a new No. 2, though, in the Associated Press rankings.

LSU’s convincing victory against Oregon was enough to vault the Tigers above SEC West rival Alabama, which is still No. 2 in the coaches’ poll.

Despite its win, OU still somehow lost four first-place votes in the AP poll. It is still ranked no lower than fourth by any of the voters, although the number of media members voting the Sooners fourth went from two to seven.

Florida State climbed from sixth to fifth in the AP poll. The Seminoles play Charleston Southern this week.
