OU football notebook: Landry Jones' stats dip without receiver Ryan Broyles

OKLAHOMA FOOTBALL — OU quarterback Landry Jones had a 155.14 efficiency rating with standout receiver Ryan Broyles playing and a 107.68 rating without him.

Oklahoma junior quarterback Landry Jones' stats slipped after Biletnikoff finalist Ryan Broyles suffered a season-ending knee injury.


With Broyles, Jones had a 155.14 efficiency rating. He threw for 380.6 yards a game, with a 64.6 completion percentage and 28 touchdown passes.

Without him the past three games, Jones had a 107.68 efficiency rating. He threw for 317.7 yards a game, with a 59 percent completion rate and no touchdown passes.

RUN DEFENSE FALTERS

In a 44-10 loss Saturday night, both Oklahoma State running backs (Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith) ran for more than 100 yards, combining for 270 rushing yards, averaging 9.3 yards per carry.

“The thing that hurts the worst is they physically got after us. That's always hard to take,” said OU defensive coordinator Brent Venables. “It's pretty simple why that game turned out the way it did. They physically got after us. Your pride is hurt, but our guys will bounce back.”
