Stoops said he told Blake Bell not to bother going through warm-ups before Saturday's game, but co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel decided to have Bell go through the drills.
“I guess Coach Heupel wanted him to,” Stoops said. “I said, ‘We got to Saturday, just get warm.' Then I looked and he was going out for warm-ups. It was no big deal.”
Bell was injured early in the Iowa State game and was ruled out before Saturday's game with the aftereffects of a concussion.
Stoops said Bell's status for the Bedlam game wouldn't be determined until at least after Thanksgiving.
EVANS WILL BE BACK
Guard Tyler Evans, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee before the season, wasn't among the players honored during Senior Day ceremonies before the Iowa State game.
Monday, Stoops revealed why.
“Tyler is gonna be able to return next year,” Stoops said. “They granted him another one.”
Evans hasn't played since 2011, when he earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors and started all 13 games.
He first tore his ACL during the first day of practice before the 2012 season.
