Sooner trio on Nagurski list
Defensive end Auston English, defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger and safety Nic Harris were among 88 players named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given to college football's defensive player of the year.

English led the Big 12 in sacks last season despite missing three games with a fractured ankle.

Granger had 35 tackles and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors.

Harris was first-team All-Big 12 after recording 74 tackles, forcing two fumbles and intercepting two passes.

•Scoreboard construction to escalate: Work on the south end zone scoreboard at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will intensify this week as a large crane is expected to be brought in today.

The crane will help in removing the primary pieces of the scoreboard. For the past two weeks, construction crews have focused on removing small pieces, including lights that displayed the time and score.

Replacing the old scoreboard will be a state-of-the-art, $4.5 million high definition video board, which should be finished before the Sooners' 2008 season opener against Tennessee-Chattanooga.

•OU, Texas score well on APR: Both sides of the Red River Shootout have been hitting the books.

Oklahoma and Texas tied for the highest Academic Progress Rates among Big 12 football teams, each posting scores of 942.

The annual APR scores were released by the NCAA last week.
