Stoops enjoying watching HortonWhile former OU gymnast Jonathan Horton was leading the USA to a bronze medal, coach Bob Stoops was tuned in at home Monday night, cheering on a fellow Sooner.
"Jonathan Horton was absolutely amazing last night, wasn't he?” Stoops said. "Loved it. And what a leader. I was really proud watching him. I thought he was fabulous.” Stoops said he's a fan of the Olympics, appreciating all that goes into making that grand stage and then responding to it. "All of them, I like watching all of it,” Stoops said. "What's so neat about it is you get that one moment to be at your best. That's what I love about boxing as well. "You get that one shot. And if you happen to have over-trained, or you don't hit it just right...” •Planning for the present: Junior wideout Adron Tennell, coming off 2007 knee surgery, has been rumored as a redshirt candidate this fall. Not if Tennell has anything to do with it. "Redshirting is not even crossing my mind right now,” he said. "I want to get on the field.” Coaches are pushing Tennell through workouts, with receivers coach Jay Norvell rotating the receiver into the mix regularly. "That gives me a boost, because he sees something in me,” Tennell said.
