Opportunity knocks
Oklahoma's loss of defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger — for at least four weeks — could be a career gain for Cordero Moore.

Moore, a junior who has played sparingly, stands next in line to join the rotation inside.

"He has an opportunity to reach those goals he had for himself coming to the University of Oklahoma,” said OU defensive line coach Jackie Shipp. "I know he wants to be successful. I know he wants to do a good job.

"Now he has that stage to do it. Now it's time to do it. We'll most definitely find out here pretty quick.”

Shipp is optimistic Moore will respond to the opportunity, allowing the Sooners to stick with a four-man rotation of some sort.

For now, that's the plan.

"The best I can, most definitely,” Shipp said. "If something changes, we'll have to go with three. It depends on how all four play. But right now, my plan is to still go with four.”

•So far, so good: One of the most pressing questions surrounding the Sooners was how a mostly inexperienced back seven would perform.

Through three games, including a solid six consecutive quarters, the concerns have lightened.

"So far, they've been excellent,” said Sooners coach Bob Stoops. "It's only a concern in the media. Whoever graduates, it's a concern who's coming in. That's how it is every year and that's how it is for everybody. That's how it always goes.
