Five penalties in the Sooners’ season-opening loss to Brigham Young put Cory Brandon firmly on the sideline. But the junior right tackle has started in each of Oklahoma’s past two games after winning a tight competition with Jarvis Jones at right tackle.

Battle for right tackle

"Both those guys have been a little erratic,” said offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson.

With Oklahoma’s offensive line set to take the field against one of the nation’s best defensive players in Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, Wilson said getting a solid performance from his offensive line would be a primary concern this week.

"It’s not down on Jarvis or Cory, but we’re letting them battle so they’ll play better,” Wilson said. "Our weakest position has been right tackle.”

GAME TIME ANNOUNCED

Oklahoma announced next week’s kickoff against Nebraska is set for 7 p.m. The 5-3 Sooners will take on the 5-3 Cornhuskers in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.

POLL WATCHING

With its 42-30 win over Kansas State, Oklahoma jumped three spots in the coaches’ poll to No. 20. The Sooners are also ranked No. 20 in the media poll, up two spots from last week.

An excellent OT recruit would be Seantrel Henderson. OU is among possible choices. Hire John Blake to recruit him.

Texas' front four, I think, is better than Nebraska's front four. But, Suh, will be tough to handle. Better call some rollouts to keep Jones healthy. BOOMER SOONER!!!!

WOW! All the way up to #20 or #21(Saragin Poll), man thats terrific, if Blake, Gibbs or Howie
were still the head coach at the University of Oklahoma. It's disgusting, pathetic, embarrassing,
and most of all a gigantic Joke considering we have Bob Stoops as our head coach. Now you
can see why he is referred to as 'Buffalo Bob! I like the way the rankings are hidden in a story
about the offensive line. They (OUklahoman) is not proud of it either. Like I always say, seeing
OU ranked in the top-10 is a gift anymore, because he can't earn it.

The guy is a freak that's for sure. I don't envy our OL this week.

It won't matter which direction we run because Suh is all over the field. He is a one man wrecking crew. I watched the Missouri game an he made their O-line, running back and QB pay for it all night long. I think he even came up with an interception. Suh is a very dominating force.
Steve, Ketchum - Nov 2, 2009 at 7:39 am
Hopefully when we run, it's the other direction, away from the dude.
