Share “OU football receiver in critical condition”

NORMAN — Oklahoma wide receiver Corey Wilson was flown to OU Medical Center in critical condition after a Friday afternoon collision on Interstate 35, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said.

Wilson, 20, of Carrollton, Texas, was driving a sport utility vehicle southbound at mile marker 81 near Pauls Valley about 1 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle collided with a pickup driven by Kody R. Thomas, 20, of Broken Arrow, which was also traveling southbound.

Both vehicles left the roadway and rolled.

Wilson was thrown about 45 feet from his SUV and was flown with head and internal injuries to OU Medical Center. Thomas refused treatment at the scene. Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt, troopers said. Thomas was wearing a seatbelt.

A hospital spokesman said Wilson’s family has asked that his current condition not be released.

Wilson, a redshirt freshman this past season, is the younger brother of former OU standout wide receiver Travis Wilson.
