Marcus Green has a family first mentality.

It's the reason Green, a cornerback from Cedar Hill, Texas, chose to continue his career at Oklahoma.

“The academics are good and the coaches really make you feel like it's a family there,” Green said. “That's the first couple of things that made me really comfortable with OU. I really liked that feeling of everyone being a close group.”

And with four former OU defensive backs currently on NFL rosters, the decision was made even easier for the three-star cornerback.

“They put a lot of DB's in the NFL, so it's a great opportunity,” Green said. “That was sort of another aspect that was really big on top of everything else.”

Green (6-foot-1, 176 pounds) registered 53 tackles, 15 passes defended at one interception in his senior season. He chose OU over Nebraska, Missouri, North Carolina and Texas Tech among others.

Green already has a high amount of trust for Bob and Mike Stoops with both being former defensive backs.

“I trust them to put me in the right position as coaches,” Green said. “They do an excellent job and they know my position well, so I'm excited about that.”

Green believes he has the ability to play on island at the cornerback position. Citing Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's physical play as a model for how he tries to play the position.

“I can use my arm length to jam guys and just be physical with receivers,” Green said. “That along with just my overall athleticism plays a big role in my ability to be physical in coverage and against the run.”
