“I see myself fitting into that exactly.”

The spot figures to be free after this season, since Ripkowski is a senior.

But Flowers expects to be one of the early contributors from the class, graduating early to join the Sooners for the spring semester.

“Right now, I'm going up there with the intention--I'm graduating early so I can play this year,” Flowers told Rivals. “If I have to redshirt I will, but I'm going to work and earn my spot and see as much playing time as I can.”

Even with Ripkowski, playing time could be available for the San Antonio Churchill product.

The Sooners regularly used Millard and Ripkowski together in several different combinations of tight end and fullback.

Flowers was committed to Boise State for more than five months before switchign his commitment following the Sooners' offer.
