His initial connection with OU came from watching past Californian's, like fellow receiver Kenny Stills, star for the Sooners.

“Watching Kenny Stills, and all the other California players who have been successful at Oklahoma, definitely played a role in my decision,” Todd said. “For some reason the California kids excel at Oklahoma.”

Receivers coach Jay Norvell also played a major role in Todd choosing OU over several major programs including Florida State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

“Looking at the receivers Coach Norvell has put in the NFL and what he's doing with the guys he has now was huge for me,” Todd said. “The other schools that had offered me just didn't have the type of receivers coach like Oklahoma has with Coach Norvell. The job he does was one of the main reasons I felt comfortable. I knew I could trust him with my future and what I want to do.”
