OU football recruiting: Versatile receiver Mark Andrews was enamored with Sooners from the get-go

“He asked me what it was like there and what people were like,” Tabor said. “I told him football's an institution in Oklahoma. There's God, family and football in Oklahoma and it's not always in that order.”

When Tim Kish got the job as the Sooners' linebackers coach two years ago, that came a little closer to reality.

Tabor had developed a relationship with Kish when Kish was an assistant at Arizona under Mike Stoops.

Kish and Jay Norvell quickly started recruiting Andrews and it didn't take long for a commitment to follow.

Andrews' older brother is already in school at Oklahoma.

So as his profile has risen and other coaches have pressed to see if the commitment is solid, Andrews hasn't swayed.

“(Alabama offensive coordinator) Lane Kiffin called me a few days ago to ask if he was solid,” Tabor said a few days before signing day. “I told him not to bother. He wasn't going to go anywhere but OU.”
