Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team will hold its fourth annual Sooner Basketball Family Weekend alumni event Aug. 22 and 23.
This year, OU will honor the program’s 1,000-point scorers at a Friday dinner for the Wayman Tisdale Scholarship Fund.
The honorees include current Clippers star Blake Griffin, who scored 1,278 points in two seasons for the Sooners.
Griffin and another member of the group, Steven Pledger, are trying to attend the event but haven’t been able to fully commit yet.
Griffin played in the game last season, scoring 13 points in the first half before exiting. Griffin had four dunks in the game’s first five minutes.
Players expected to attend include Jeff Webster, Tim McCalister, Choo Kennedy, Stacey King, Hollis Price, Brent Price and Terry Stotts among others.
Admission to the alumni game is free.
The weekend of events also includes a Tip In Golf Classic and a Legends Alumni Game at noon Saturday.
“Our staff and players are really looking forward to what has become one of the highlights of our offseason each year,” Sooners coach Lon Kruger said in a release. “It’s fun for everyone to reconnect with each other and to interact with our great fans.”
The golf classic will be held at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, with registration $200 per individual.
Friday’s dinner is $50 per person.
To register for either event or be a sponsor, call the OU Men’s Basketball office at 405-325-4732.
Former players and coaches will sign autographs after the alumni game and fans will once again have the chance to be photographed with current and former players for the annual team schedule poster.
The Sooner Club and OU Ticket Sales staff will also be hosting a “Select-A-Seat” event at the alumni game for fans interested in purchasing season tickets. Available seats will be labeled through the arena, OU Athletics staff will be on hand to answer questions and a ticket sales table will be set up in the upper concourse.
