LAWRENCE, Kan.—Sophomore kicker Jimmy Stevens made 11 of his 13 field goal attempts in Oklahoma's first six games. He also converted 21-of-22 extra point attempts.
Neither was enough to guarantee he kept his job.
Redshirt freshman punter Tress Way took over placekicking duties on Saturday.
"I just feel Tress has been more and more solid through practice, and we need more consistency there," said coach Bob Stoops.
Way made all five of his extra points, but didn't attempt a field goal. His only field goal attempt of the season came in the season-opening 14-13 loss to Brigham Young, when he missed a 54-yarder that would have put the Sooners ahead with just under two minutes to play.
