Crocker becomes four-point specialist
Tony Crocker probably would not mind forgetting the first 13 minutes of his senior exhibition debut Tuesday.
Crocker was 0-for-6 from the field and hadn’t scored before connecting on a four-point play from the left corner.
Less than three minutes later, he provided an encore, draining his second trey from the right wing and drawing another foul.
"They were just running into me after I was shooting,” said Crocker, who now has three career four-point plays.
Name game
Guard Willie Warren’s game looked much like it did last year in his sophomore debut, but the back of his jersey didn’t. The back of Warren’s uniform now reads "Warren III,” a change from "Warren” as a freshman. The third Willie Warren simply chose to add the Roman numeral for his second season in Norman. Warren also briefly left the game in the second half with a left leg cramp suffered on an alley-oop layup.
Familiar faces
Oklahoma fans would likely recognize a pair of faces in Tuesday’s crowd of 4,144. Former Sooner Longar Longar, a 6-11 center, made an appearance, as well as ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla. Fraschilla was also a former coach at St. John’s, New Mexico, and Manhattan.
Toby Keith video shown
Oklahoma kicked off halftime by showing Toby Keith’s new video tribute to the late Wayman Tisdale. Tisdale, Oklahoma’s career leader in points and rebounds, died last May. Keith’s video, titled "Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song)” premiered on Monday, and the song is featured on Keith’s newest album, "American Ride,” which is dedicated to Tisdale.
National pride
With a minute to play and the Sooners up by 40, the student section showed a little patriotism and began a "U-S-A!” chant, celebrating a 93-53 victory over Oklahoma’s Canadian guests.
Hardrick, Allen out
Freshman Kyle Hardrick did not dress for Tuesday’s game after injuring his knee earlier in the week. Capel said the Putnam City product’s injury was not serious. Junior center Orlando Allen also did not dress.
