Following its strong performance against top-ranked Florida State in front of a national audience, Oklahoma State is ranked just outside the top 25 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll.
The Cowboys are the first team outside of the poll, receiving 106 points. FSU remains No. 1 (57 first-place votes), followed by Alabama and Oklahoma. Oregon and Auburn round out the top five.
After the narrow 37-31 loss to FSU, Oklahoma State earned 50 more points from the preseason poll to Week 2.
OU, Oregon and Georgia were the only teams besides Florida State to receive a first-place vote. The Sooners and Ducks each received two first-place votes and Georgia received one. At No. 3, OU is the highest-ranked Big 12 school in the poll, followed by Baylor (10), Kansas State (21) and Texas (24).
The Amway Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate.
